Pizza Making Equipment

Pizza Making Equipment For The New Pizzeria

Start off on the right foot and you'll have a greater chance at succeeding in your new venture.

Although having the right pizza making equipment is critical, one very important aspect before you purchase equipment is to think about your work flow and the layout of your kitchen. Having the right layout can reduce labor expenses and increase profits, especially when you have high volume nights or become a higher volume producing restaurant. Be sure to spend some time in this area of planning or consult a restaurant kitchen design expert before you purchase any equipment. A fairly inexpensive way to see different kitchen designs is to visit restaurants and pizzerias; many have open kitchens where you can glimpse the work flow. A highly important element that will affect your kitchen design is the pizza oven.

You'll have to decide early on what type of oven you'll want to use in your restaurant. The main types of ovens are conveyor, traditional deck, and stone hearth. You'll need a fairly large space for a conveyor oven because you'll be loading from one end and pulling from the other. If you think about using a deck oven configuration, you'll have to leave ample space for open doors and the placement and rotation of the pizzas while they cook, the same goes for a wood burning or stone hearth oven. A newly designed oven like the Roto-Flex oven allows you to prep from one side, walk about two steps and pull the pizzas. This will help to increase your workflow and because of the way the Roto-Flex is configured, you'll cut down on energy costs. This is great if you're thinking of "going green" with your new restaurant. Design your kitchen right and you may be able to qualify for tax deductions at city, state, and federal levels.

After you rent or purchase a restaurant locale and you've decided upon a kitchen design, you'll want to think about equipment. This pizza equipment summary is mainly for a new Italian restaurant or pizzeria. Many of the items in the list are optional, especially if your identity is wrapped around hand tossed and homemade pizza and menu items. This is equipment you've probably thought of, but then again maybe not:

  • Pizza Recipe (just kidding)
  • Pizza Oven
  • Pizza Pans of all sizes and depths for cooking and/or serving depending on what you're cooking and the oven you're cooking in.
  • Pizza Screens
  • Pizza Peels
  • Pizza Cutters
  • Pizza Pan Racks
  • Dough Dockers
  • Dough Scrapers
  • Hand Dough Rollers
  • Mechanical Dough Roller
  • Pizza Knives
  • Pizza Stones, if you don't have an oven that has stone decks, like the Roto-Flex Oven.
  • Food Preparation Tables
  • Dough Mixers
  • Pizza Presses
  • Pizza Pan Grippers
  • Insulated Delivery Bags
  • Delivery Boxes for Takeout and Delivery, in the planning of your kitchen be sure to think about storage for these boxes, they can take up a large amount of space in an Italian restaurant or pizzeria.

While we know this list is not exhaustive and doesn't answer all your questions to purchasing the right pizza making equipment we do hope it can set you on the right track. Opening your own restaurant is an ambitious venture, if you ever have any questions about the Roto-Flex oven or would like to speak with a Roto-Flex representative please call us at 877-859-1463 or contact us.
